This is a common misconception about Hinduism. The tradition actually teaches that there is one supreme consciousness (Brahman) that manifests in different forms. According to the Bhagavad Gita 10.8, all creation emanates from the one source.
The various deities (devas) represent different aspects and functions of the supreme reality. As explained in the Katha Upanishad, they are like different rays of the same sun. Modern physics similarly describes how one unified field manifests as different forces and particles.
The so-called '33 crore gods' is also a mistranslation - 'koti' in Sanskrit can mean 'type' rather than the number 'crore'. The ancient texts actually refer to 33 categories of divine forces.
